Bitcoin:
- Thomas Voegtlin from Electrum, posted to the Bitcoin-Dev mailing list about creating transactions with stripped sizes (non-witness sizes) as small as 60 bytes. Bitcoin Core currently refuses to relay or mine transactions less than 82 bytes. The motivation for this rule is CVE-2017-12842 where an attacker can get a specially crafted 64 byte transaction confirmed into a block and use it to convince SPV clients that one or more arbitrary transactions have been confirmed.
Litecoin:
- David Burkett releases his May progress update on Mimblewimble (MW). His work has included implementing the AcceptBlock and ConnectBlock integration logic as well as initial work on the mempool so we could mine valid MW blocks which will allow him to test the end-to-end flow of MW transactions in a block.
Ethereum:
- Danny Ryan shares details on the state of ETH2.0 in the Ethereum Foundation’s Research and Development blog post yesterday.
- With various projects pushing forward with ETH2.0, StarkWare shares how their StarkEx was used to trustlessly onboard 1.3M accounts with initial balances onto Ethereum mainnet. The amortized price per transfer was only 600 gas. Full details here.
- DeFi777 aims to simplify common DeFi actions into simple token transfers via an ERC-777 token wrapper. Full details on the implementation here.
Other Chains:
- On June 1st, 2020, Bitfly shared that the ETC (Ethereum Classic) network was experiencing a network split after the Phoenix hardfork. OpenEthereum and CoreGeth/MultiGeth nodes were unable to connect to each other.
- A Medium post from Electric Capital shared thoughts on risk management and “guarded” launches for DeFi.
- Zcash’s next upgrade, NU4 has been named “Canopy”. The NU4 feature selection will include ZIP-1014 which establishes a development fund and governance process for Zcash.
- On May 27, 2020, Foundation launched. Foundation is an entirely new medium for buying, selling, and trading limited-edition goods.
- Lightning Network releases the first minor release in the v0.10.0 series! This release contains no major new features.
- The Binance USD (BUSD) token is now available on Kyber Network and accessible through KyberSwap and other DApps and platforms powered by Kyber.
- MobileCoin announces the MobileCoin Foundation, an organization dedicated to guiding development of the MobileCoin protocol and fostering the surrounding ecosystem.
- Dharma has been in collaboration with Interstate on a layer-2 scalable ERC-20 payments and transfers solution. This solution has recently been open-sourced as Tiramisu. Tiramisu consists of a suite of Solidity smart contracts and accompanying nodes, written in TypeScript and exposing a GraphQL interface.
- The Electric Coin Company releases v3.0.0. This release supports the Heartwood activation on mainnet, which will occur at block height of 903000 which is estimated for mid-July.
- Zecwallet Lite is now available for beta testing on Android.
- The Force Protocol integrates with Chainlink to help calculate the value of collateral assets to create bonds, calculate the collateralization ratios, trigger conditions for supplementary collateral, and trigger conditions for liquidation.
